Raymond, who plays right-handed, has wins over Venus Williams, Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, Monica Seles, Jennifer Capriati and Martina Hingis. She also is one of the few (40) players to win a career Grand Slam in doubles.

Of her four singles titles, two have come at the Cellular South Cup in Memphis, Tennessee.

Career

Early career

Raymond achieved significant success in collegiate tennis. She received an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where she won the NCAA singles title in 1992 and 1993 playing for the Florida Gators women's tennis team, leading the Gators to the 1992 NCAA Team Championships.[1] She was the first player to win all three collegiate Grand Slams titles in a single season (1992). She received the 1992 Volvo Rookie of the Year award, the 1992 Tennis Magazine Collegiate Player of the Year award, the 1992 and 1993 Broderick Award, and the 1993 Honda Award for collegiate tennis.[2][3]

As a junior, she won five U.S. National (USTA) singles and doubles titles, and she was ranked #1 in the U.S. for players 18 and under in 1990.

2005

Played the first half of the year with Rennae Stubbs before beginning a partnership with Samantha Stosur, including winning the US Open, her second and the Season Ending Championships, also her second.

2006

Raymond and Stosur were the dominant doubles force, winning ten titles including the French Open and their second Season Ending Championships. By winning the French Open, Lisa became only the 13th person in history to have won all four double Grand Slams. Finished the year as the co-holders of the number one spot.

Finished outside the top 100 for singles for the first time in over ten years. Very nearly beat Venus Williams at Wimbledon and served for the match.

2007

The year began well for Raymond and Stosur, with the pair winning five titles; however, Stosur caught a virus at Wimbledon, causing them to lose their semi-final match there and for the partnership to be put on hold until the following year due to Stosur's recovory.

Decided to retire from her singles career.

2008

Raymond began the year playing with Elena Likhovtseva with solid results, then reunited with former partner Samantha Stosur in May, after the latter's return from injury. They went on to reach the finals of Wimbledon and the US Open, losing both. Raymond also won titles in Memphis and New Haven.

2009

Raymond began an exclusive partnership with Květa Peschke, where they reached four finals and two semi-finals before their year was cut short by an injury to Peschke, just before Wimbledon. This resulted in Lisa having to fish around for partners, causing her results to dip and her ranking to slip to number 18. She won one title, taking her tally to 68.

2010

Raymond started the year by reuniting with former partner Rennae Stubbs after Stubbs' partner Samantha Stosur decided to focus on her singles. They lost their first round in Sydney, before then reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open, as the number six seeds, losing to Venus and Serena Williams. Raymond also made the semi-finals of the Mixed doubles tournament. Raymond and Stubbs won the AEGON International against Květa Peschke and Slovenia Katarina Srebotnik in the final 6-2 2-6 [13-11] winning their first ever doubles tournament together.

Reputation and Personal Life

She has won the career grand slam in women's doubles, being the most recent of 13 to accomplish this feat. She also has won four mixed doubles grand slams in three venues (Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon) as well. In singles, Raymond is a two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist.

Raymond reached the finals of the 2008 Wimbledon Open with partner Samantha Stosur. They eventually lost to the dominant Williams Sisters, Serena and Venus, the latter who earlier played her sister and won the 2008 Wimbledon singles title for the second year in a row. Raymond has reached the finals of every Grand Slam women's doubles event at least twice and the semi-finals at least five times. By winning Osaka in 2009, Raymond kept her streak of a title won every year since 1993 alive.
